Flatten The Mountain Pickaxes and Storm Hammer Guide

Dated September 1–2 material shows a lobby Pickaxe Store that accepts Gems or Robux and includes ten named tools, ending with the Storm Hammer. One September 2 guide showed the Storm Hammer at 396 Gems with a 5% Thundercall effect. Because Roblox's public game record changed on September 3, the live store price and description should be treated as newer whenever they differ.

Evidence reviewed September 6, 2026. Dates describe source review or hands-on testing only—not automatic builds.

What pickaxes do

Pickaxes improve the player's manual mining side of the loop. Drones and Turrets add automation, but a stronger pickaxe still matters when you target high-value ore, finish a stubborn block, or push through the opening before workers scale.

The official Roblox description does not list pickaxes, so the roster below is a dated public-store snapshot rather than first-party documentation.

The store guide described rarities from Common through Legendary, but it did not provide a reliable item-by-item rarity and price table for every pickaxe. This page does not fill those cells by guessing from names or appearance.

How to get Gems for pickaxes

Dated public records show two practical Gem sources:

Buried chests

Two public records showed a buried chest awarding 50 Gems. That amount may not be fixed after the September 3 update.

Completing the mountain

One September 2 guide documented 400 Gems on a first clear and 500 Gems on a later run. The different outcomes may reflect gear, performance, bonuses, or another condition; no fixed completion formula was established.

Storm Hammer: what the dated evidence shows

The September 2 illustrated guide recorded:

  • a store price of 396 Gems;
  • a passive named Thundercall;
  • a 5% chance on hits to trigger an effect described as destroying the struck block outright;
  • a later full run completed in 33:24, compared with 51:15 for an earlier run.

The time comparison is not a controlled pickaxe-only test. The later run also had an established upgrade economy and could have differed in buffs, ore, execution, or other conditions. It supports the conclusion that Storm Hammer was a meaningful late target in that dated build, not that it alone always saves exactly 17:51.

Should you save for Storm Hammer?

A reasonable dated plan is:

  1. complete the first mountain with the available tool and in-run upgrades;
  2. keep chest and completion Gems instead of treating them as Cash;
  3. check whether the live store still shows Storm Hammer at 396 Gems and the same passive;
  4. save for it when the current price is close to the Gem reward you can realistically earn;
  5. buy a cheaper pickaxe only when its displayed improvement solves a clear manual-mining bottleneck.

The September 2 first clear produced enough Gems to cover the historical 396-Gem price. That is a recorded example, not a guaranteed one-run unlock.

Pickaxe versus Skill Tree upgrades

A pickaxe does not replace the in-run Skill Tree. The fastest dated run combined a stronger tool with automated workers and Player upgrades.

Pickaxe FAQ

What is the best pickaxe in Flatten The Mountain?

Storm Hammer is the strongest specifically documented target in the September 2 source, but a complete current stat table was not confirmed after the September 3 update.

How much does Storm Hammer cost?

It was shown at 396 Gems in a September 2 guide. Check the live store for the current price.

What does Thundercall do?

The dated source described a 5% chance for a hit to destroy the targeted block outright. Current wording and behavior remain subject to the September 3 update.

How do I get Gems?

Dated records show Gems from buried chests and mountain completion. See Chests and Progression.

Are the ten pickaxe names still current?

They form a September 1 roster snapshot. The official public game description does not publish the live store inventory, so additions, removals, prices, or renames after September 3 are not assumed.

Can I buy pickaxes with Robux?

The September 1 illustrated guide showed Gems or Robux as store payment options. Current purchase choices should be checked in the live store before spending.
