Flatten The Mountain Skill Tree: Upgrades & Early Order

The upgrade menu shown in September 1–2 public material is divided into Drones, Turrets, and Player improvements. A practical dated opening is Damage I → Drone I → Player Damage/Mine Speed → Turret I → Mine Distance → Auto Mine. The Roblox experience record changed on September 3, so current menu text and prices take priority over every number on this page.

Evidence reviewed September 6, 2026. Dates describe source review or hands-on testing only—not automatic builds.

Evidence note

The Skill Tree itself is named in the official Roblox description. The detailed tracks, nodes, costs, and effects below come from public gameplay and illustrated guides dated September 1–2, 2026. They are useful historical observations, not an official post-update database.

The three observed upgrade tracks

TrackObserved upgradesWhat the dated material shows
DronesDrone I–IV, Damage, Rate, Speed, RangeDrones automatically mine blocks while the player continues moving and swinging
TurretsTurret I–III, Damage, Rate; an Orbit Speed line was also describedTurrets orbit the mountain and beam blocks as a second automated system
PlayerDamage, Mine Speed, Mine Distance, Auto MineThese upgrades improve the player's own manual mining and reduce click or reach limits

The exact node layout, prerequisites, maximum levels, and every cost were not captured in the sources used here. Do not turn this partial list into a “complete Skill Tree” claim.

Best early upgrade order for a fresh run

1. Damage I

Take the cheapest direct damage step first when the live menu still shows it as the opening purchase. In the dated route, it shortened the manual phase before automation.

2. Drone I

Drone I was the earliest automation purchase in the documented economy. It keeps removing blocks while you reposition, scan a layer, or mine valuable ore by hand.

3. Player Damage and Mine Speed

Alternate these instead of blindly maxing one line. Damage helps each effective hit; Mine Speed helps you apply those hits more often. Buy the next step that removes the bottleneck you can actually see at its current displayed cost.

4. Turret I

Add the first turret after the drone and basic Player improvements. The documented Turret I cost was higher than Drone I, so waiting for a turret before buying any automation slows the opening in that dated build.

5. Mine Distance

Distance is useful when the mountain face becomes awkward or a remaining block is below an edge. It is a convenience and reach upgrade, not a replacement for damage or speed.

6. Auto Mine

Buy Auto Mine when it appears and the current price fits your run. The dated version still required aiming, but it reduced repeated clicking.

What to upgrade after the opening

Use the mountain in front of you to identify the current bottleneck:

BottleneckPrefer
Manual hits feel too weakPlayer Damage
Manual swings feel too slowMine Speed
Blocks are awkward to reachMine Distance
The fleet reaches blocks but clears them slowlyWorker Damage or Rate
Workers spend time moving between targetsDrone Speed/Range or Turret movement-related upgrades, when shown in the current menu
You are saving every dollar and have no passive progressUnlock another worker before buying minor convenience levels

A universal S-to-D list is not justified without a current full tree, complete costs, and comparable run data. The useful answer is a role-based order with visible current prices.

Drones or Turrets first?

For the September 2 opening, Drone I first is the practical answer because it appeared at $5, while Turret I appeared near $23. Add the turret after you have a drone and enough Player output to keep earning while you wait.

This does not mean drones always outperform turrets at every level. See Drones vs Turrets for the role comparison.

Do turrets stop the eagle?

Do not build your Eagle strategy around that claim. One September 1 guide called turrets defensive, while a September 2 guide instructed players to avoid the eagle's path and did not establish a reliable turret counter. The safe action is still to move outside the visible warning area.

Read the Eagle guide.

When an upgrade name or price is different

  1. Confirm that you joined Flatten The Mountain by DomBlox Games.
  2. Use the exact value shown in the current menu.
  3. Treat this table as a September 1–2 snapshot.
  4. Check the Updates page for the latest official record timestamp.
  5. Do not average an old and new cost; they may belong to different builds or levels.

Skill Tree FAQ

What is the best first upgrade in Flatten The Mountain?

Damage I was the first purchase in a documented September 2 route, followed by Drone I. That is the best-supported dated opening, not an official permanent rule.

What should I upgrade after Drone I?

Add Player Damage and Mine Speed, then Turret I. Take Mine Distance when reach becomes a problem and Auto Mine when it appears at a price your run can support.

Are Drones and Turrets part of the Skill Tree?

They appear as separate upgrade tracks in dated public menus and guides. The official Roblox description confirms a Skill Tree but does not publish its full node list.

Is this the complete Skill Tree?

No. It is the most useful verified snapshot available from the sources reviewed here. Full current prerequisites, caps, and all level costs remain unconfirmed after the September 3 update timestamp.

Can I reset or respec the Skill Tree?

A reliable current respec rule was not confirmed, so this page does not publish a reset method.
