Flatten The Mountain Drones vs Turrets

Buy Drone I first in a fresh run when the current economy still resembles the September 2 snapshot. Drone I appeared at $5, while Turret I appeared near $23, so the drone started automatic mining much earlier. Add a turret after the first drone and basic Player upgrades. Use both for block clearing, but do not rely on a turret as a proven eagle defense.

Version warning

Drones and Turrets are shown in dated September 1–2 public menus and gameplay. The official Roblox description confirms a Skill Tree but does not publish current worker costs or stats. Roblox's public record changed on September 3, so live menu values take priority.

Why Drone I comes first in the dated opening

The gap between $5 and about $23 matters at the start. Buying Drone I creates passive block removal while you continue earning toward the next upgrade. Waiting for Turret I with no worker leaves the player doing all early mining manually.

This is an economy decision, not a claim that a level-one drone has better lifetime damage than every turret level.

When to add the first turret

Add Turret I after:

  1. Drone I is active;
  2. your Player Damage or Mine Speed can handle early ore and ordinary blocks;
  3. the current Turret I cost does not require several slow layers of saving.

The turret adds another attack pattern and coverage path. In the September 2 guide, turrets orbited the mountain and their movement-related upgrade was described as Orbit Speed.

Which worker upgrade should come next?

Choose Damage when tougher blocks slow the worker

If a worker reaches targets but takes too long to finish them, a displayed Damage step is the direct answer.

Choose Rate when the worker pauses too long between actions

Use the current menu description to distinguish Rate from movement. Do not assume every patch uses the same wording.

Choose Speed or Range when the drone spends time traveling

Dated Drone menus included Speed and Range lines. They become useful when a drone clears its local area but wastes time reaching the next blocks.

Choose another base unit when coverage is the bottleneck

A new worker can cover another area while existing units continue. Compare its current price with a meaningful stat level rather than following a fixed unit count from another player's build.

Drones, Turrets, and Player upgrades should work together

A useful run has three jobs happening at once:

  • Drones create early passive mining.
  • Turrets add orbiting beam coverage.
  • The Player targets high-value ore and awkward blocks with Damage, Mine Speed, Mine Distance, and Auto Mine.

Buying only workers can leave the manual side too weak. Buying only Player stats leaves menus, movement, and hazard time with no passive progress.

Can Turrets kill or block the Eagle?

The available sources do not support that as a reliable strategy. One guide used defensive wording, while a later guide told players to avoid the eagle's visible path. Follow the red warning and movement steps in the Eagle guide.

Why this is not an S/A/B/C tier list

A real tier list would need:

  • the current complete worker tree;
  • every cost and level effect;
  • comparable solo and group tests;
  • a named goal such as first-clear time, Cash/min, or late-run block removal;
  • the current build after the September 3 timestamp.

The current evidence supports buying order and role comparison, not permanent letter grades.

Drones vs Turrets FAQ

Should I buy a Drone or Turret first?

Drone I first is the best-supported dated opening because it appeared at $5, far earlier than the roughly $23 Turret I.

Are Drones better than Turrets?

Not at every stage. Drones start earlier in the documented economy; Turrets add a different automated coverage pattern. Exact late-run value depends on current costs and levels.

How many Drones and Turrets can I have?

One September 2 source reported up to seven of each. The current post-update cap was not independently confirmed.

Which Drone stat should I upgrade?

Use Damage for slow breaks, Rate for action frequency, and Speed/Range when target travel or reach is the bottleneck, subject to the current menu wording.

Do Turrets protect me from the Eagle?

No reliable current evidence establishes that. Move outside the visible warning area.
